LEARN AN INSTRUMENT WITH PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS

The Kroc Center offers one-on-one music lessons for students of all ages in piano, guitar, brass and woodwind instruments. Students must provide their own method book and instrument (except for piano).

Heartstrings & Valves

GIVE YOUR CHILD THE GIFT OF MUSIC

Heartstrings & Valves is a specialty after-school music instruction program for children in grades 1-6. Children receive hands-on music instruction provided by qualified instructors three days per week. Younger students start the program on the violin, while older students may choose the violin or trumpet- under the supervision of certified music educators. Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Tidewater Winds musicians provide master class instruction once per month. Homework assistance and a healthy meal is also provided. Instrument rental and method books are provided.

  • When are classes? Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3-6 p.m.
  • What is the cost? $15 per week. Extended care includes music instruction days for $30 per week per child.
  • How will my child get there? Transportation to the center will be provided by The Salvation Army from Richard Bowling and Coleman Place Elementary Schools. 
  • When is pick up? 6 p.m.
  • Other information? Homework assistance and a healthy meal are also provided from 4:30-5 p.m.
