ATTIRE

It is suggested that campers wear socks and closed-toe shoes daily in order to participate in gymnasium activities. Campers should wear season-appropriate "play clothes" in which they are ready to play hard and potentially get dirty! We do not recommend skirts or dresses. Please send your child in clothing and footwear they can put on without assistance. Your camper will be very active and will want to be comfortable running, jumping, climbing, kicking, etc. in whatever they are wearing.

SWIMWEAR

Campers should bring a backpack, swimsuit/trunks, and a towel. All children must be able to get themselves dressed and undressed in the locker room. Staff members are not responsible for assisting children with clothing or swimwear.

BACKPACK/BAG

Campers should bring a backpack or bag that has their name on it with them to carry all of their belongings and a water bottle to stay hydrated.

WHAT NOT TO BRING TO CAMP

Below is a list of items that are not welcome at Camp Kroc. Should your camper bring these, they will be
confiscated & given to the parent at sign-out. This policy is for the campers’ safety, as well as to encourage
group interactions. Additionally, The Kroc Center is not responsible for camper possessions that are lost or
stolen. Please do not have your camper bring valuables!

  • Cell Phones (see Communications section)
  • Electronics: MP3 players/iPods, mini game-boys, video cameras, etc.
  • Expensive jewelry or other belongings
  • Shoes with wheels in the soles
  • Personal toys such as cards/trading games, motorized cars, boats, dolls, stuffed animals
  • Drugs or alcohol of any type
  • Weapons: guns, knives, nun chucks, or any other weapon (real or pretend)
  • Flip Flops (only wear during pool time to walk around the locker room)
  • Personal sports equipment

Q: How will I be contacted in the event of an emergency?
A: In an emergency, camp staff will first ensure all campers are safe. Once safety is confirmed, staff will contact parents or guardians by phone as soon as possible.

Q: What should I expect at Day Camp?
A: A detailed schedule will be available at the Welcome Desk on the first day of each session. We do our best to follow the schedule, and any changes will be communicated through the Welcome Desk. Be sure to pick up a copy each day.

Q: Who is watching my child during camp?
A: Our staff is carefully selected and trained to work with children. Every team member is at least 18 years old and has completed background checks, reference checks, and health screenings. Before summer begins, staff go through a thorough orientation covering:

  • Camp policies and procedures
  • First Aid, CPR, and safety practices
  • Emergency and swimming protocols
  • Child behavior management
  • Hygiene and illness prevention
  • And more as outlined by the Camp Coordinator

Campers are assigned to small groups with dedicated counselors to ensure individual attention and supervision.

Q: Will my child participate in physical activities?
A: Yes! Campers spend time in our gym with trained fitness staff learning new skills and sports. Activities are designed to be fun and promote physical health. Please make sure your child wears appropriate shoes and clothing.

Q: What other activities are offered?
A: Campers rotate through a variety of fun activities including:

  • Rock wall climbing
  • Swimming in the aquatic center
  • Playing on the outdoor playground
  • Team-building games
  • Literacy-based activities, crafts, and songs

These experiences are designed to build friendships and keep camp fun and engaging every day.

Q: Are meals included?
A: Yes. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack are provided daily at no additional cost. Meals are designed to be nutritious and kid-friendly thanks to our partnership with USDA of Southeastern Virginia. Campers may bring their own lunch, but food sharing is not allowed. Please inform staff of any dietary restrictions.
